Kuwentuhan at Kapihan (KwenKap)
Learning different perspectives through formal and informal discourses have been the challenge for all students majoring in art. With KwenKap, UP ASTERISK provides a venue for students to interact with fellow students and experts in the field. The term KwenKap symbolizes the organization’s desire to make discussions a level-playing field instead of the usual lecturer-student discussions. We discuss everything under the sun – from KPop to Mozart, Bob Ong to Shakespeare, and Carlo J. Caparas to Van Gogh.
Workshop
Who says artistic training is limited to classrooms? Through ASTERISK’s workshops, students get to display their artistic skills in the four fields – Visual Arts, Literature, Music and the Performing Arts. Peer-to-peer workshop and collaborative artworks that win prizes are formulated from these activities, creating a network of artists who are willing to go beyond their personal spaces and make a difference in the society. You don’t need to be a National Artist to say something – in ASTERISK, every opinion matters.
Sining Series
Have you seen the Spoliarium closely, to the point that you are almost touching it? Have you been to exclusive book launches and actually took part in organizing events? In ASTERISK, we provide a venue for individuals to explore and take part in the museum tours, exhibits, book launches, and trade fairs. Be a part of actual movie productions and be in touch with leaders in the field. No other organization can take you THIS close to being a member of the industry even if you’re still a student.
